Insert Pocket Guide

Our riding jeans, riding pants and jackets have internal pockets for removable inserts. This guide shows where the pockets are, what comes with an order, and, as general information, how protector ratings work.

Where The Pockets Are

• Riding jeans and riding pants: pockets at the knees and hips.
• Jackets: pockets at the shoulders and elbows, plus a back pocket.
• Vests: no insert pockets.

What Comes With An Order

• Jeans and riding pants: a standard set of removable knee and hip inserts. An alternative insert set is offered as an option on the product page.
• Jackets: no inserts by default. The shoulder, elbow and back pockets ship empty unless you choose an insert add-on on the product page: a set of four shoulder and elbow inserts, or one back insert, at the price shown.

Because the inserts are removable, you can take them out and wear the garment as everyday denim. If you order Custom Made-to-Order, the jeans form includes knee and thigh measurements and your riding position.

How Protector Ratings Work (General Information)

This section describes the standards in general. It is not a statement about the inserts sold by Denimotto; we don't publish certificates or ratings for them.

• Impact protectors are certified separately from garments. EN 1621-1 covers limb protectors (shoulder, elbow, hip and knee) and EN 1621-2 covers back protectors.
• Each has two levels, based on the force transmitted through the protector in a standard impact test; lower is better. Limb protectors: Level 1, average below 35 kN; Level 2, below 20 kN. Back protectors: Level 1, below 18 kN; Level 2, below 9 kN.
• A certified protector carries its own marking and documentation. A certified protector does not make the garment it sits in a certified garment, and a pocket is not itself certified.
• Impact protectors are not abrasion protection, and they don't replace a helmet, gloves or boots.
